Romanian Deadlift

This exercise is a very important one in my opinion. It helps you gain control over your glutes, by teaching you to activate them. Doing this exercise trains your body to use your glutes rather than your lower back when hinging your hips. It has a fantastic translation to your golf swing, helping you learn how to activate your glutes properly.

Romanian Deadlift Instructions

  1. Grab a pair of dumbbells and hold them out in front of you.
  2. Make sure to keep your chest up and back straight the entire time.
  3. Push your hips backwards letting your knees bend slightly.
  4. Lowering the dumbbells keeping them close to your legs.
  5. Go down until you feel a good stretch in your hamstrings.
  6. Once at the bottom squeeze your glutes and stand up straight slowly.
  7. Make sure you activate your glutes when standing up so you do NOT activate your lower back.
  8. Repeat.
