The Golf Grip Ball Strike from High Anchor is a great power and speed exercise. Coming from a high anchor point more force is required on the downward movement, thus giving you more power, speed, and stability just before ball strike in your swing.
Primary Muscles Used
Golf Grip Ball Strike from High Anchor Instructions
- Use a heavy exercise band and anchor at a point above your head.
- Grab the RIP trainer with a wide hand placement using your golf grip (one hand underhand one hand overhand just like your golf grip but wide apart)
- Step sideways away from the anchor point is directly to your side.
- Bend your knees (especially your lead leg) and let the RIP trainer go back towards the anchor.
- Drive your lead leg up, pushing your hip back and beginning your swing.
- Use your abs to pull your torso around followed closely by your arms.
- Stop right before the RIP trainer would start going upward (follow-through).
- Bring your arms back and repeat.
This is an explosive movement, it is not meant to mimic your swing exactly, it is designed to increase your speed and power in the rotational plane, so go as fast as you can without causing injury.
