Head Stability Side Bend

This drill is an excellent exercise for improving head stability during the golf swing. By holding an alignment stick overhead while side bending, you learn to maintain your spine angle and keep your head centered instead of lifting or "standing up" through impact.

Head Stability Side Bend Instructions

  1. Stand with your feet about shoulder-width apart in your golf posture, keeping your butt touching the wall behind you.
  2. Hold an alignment stick (or golf club) overhead with both hands, arms fully extended.
  3. Keep your chest up, core engaged, and eyes looking toward the floor as they would at address.
  4. Slowly bend your upper body to one side by hinging through your torso, keeping your arms straight and the alignment stick overhead.
  5. Focus on keeping your head as still as possible throughout the movement. Your shoulders and torso should move while your head remains quiet.
  6. Pause briefly at the end of the side bend while maintaining your posture.
  7. Make sure your butt stays lightly touching the wall.
  8. Return slowly to the starting position under control.
  9. Repeat to the opposite side.
  10. Continue alternating sides while maintaining smooth, controlled movement.
