The Sign of the Cross
but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.Matthew 5:28
The Sign of the Cross
After you have prepared yourself, and are exercising in the gym, you still may have lustful thoughts in your mind. Let's be honest, sometimes it can be hard not to have those thoughts. The important part is that we don't let those thoughts enter our hearts. The number one best way to stop those thoughts are by giving yourself the sign of the cross.
In Bert Ghezzi's book "The Sign of the Cross" he states that "the sign of the cross is: a confession of faith; a renewal of baptism; a mark of discipleship; an acceptance of suffering; a defense against the devil; and a victory over self-indulgence."
In my opinion that is an extremely powerful and quickly performed prayer. The sign of the cross packs a punch that will get your mind and heart back on God.
The most important aspect of the sign of the cross might be that it is visible for all to see. As lust begins, it begins in secret. By giving yourself the sign of the cross, your Catholic faith is no longer secret. It is no longer a secret that your heart lies with God.
