What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can be used to treat a wide range of disorders, including panic attacks, anger, addictions, depression, chronic pain, fatigue, eating disorders and low self-esteem

It is evidence-based treatment that combines cognitive therapy (examining how we think) and behavioral therapy (examining the things we do) to help you find positive solutions to situations that interfere with your family, work or social life and seem overwhelming.

Negative thinking affects mood, sense of self, behavior, and even our physical health. The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy is to help a person learn to recognize negative patterns of thought and replace them with healthier ways of thinking.

CBT takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. By helping you identify the things that make you feel bad, anxious or scared, and teaching you how to make small behavioral changes to counteract the negative thoughts, you’ll be able to tackle your problems and improve the way you feel.

The therapy is well-suited for people who want a short-term treatment option for certain types of emotional distress without relying on prescription drugs.  One of the greatest benefits of CBT is that it gives you the ability to develop coping skills you can use now and in the future.

Mindfulness teaches us to use our natural mental facilities of attention and intention to improve our lives.  Our mindfulness classes can help you improve your decision-making skills, improve your self-esteem, relax and calm your mind, improve your sleep, cope with pain, and boost your energy levels. We will teach you about the mind-body connection and how your unconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviors may be undermining your emotional, physical and spiritual health.
